Just when fans feared IPL 2025 might be derailed, there’s good news—cricket is back!
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially confirmed that the remainder of the Indian Premier League 2025 season will proceed, with matches restarting from May 17. This announcement comes after a week-long suspension due to escalating tensions along the India-Pakistan border.
The IPL, known for its electrifying atmosphere and high-stakes games, faced a sudden interruption when the BCCI decided to pause the league last week as national security concerns took priority. However, with tensions now de-escalated and peace returning to the region, the BCCI—with backing from the Indian government and security agencies—has given the green light for cricket to resume.
According to the revised IPL schedule, 17 matches are set to be played between May 17 and June 3. This includes two double-headers, both falling on Sundays, giving fans action-packed weekends. The knockout stage dates are also locked in:
Qualifier 1 will be held on May 29,
Eliminator follows on May 30,
Qualifier 2 is scheduled for June 1,
and the much-anticipated final will take place on June 3.
While the exact venues for the playoffs haven’t been revealed yet, the BCCI assures that details will be shared soon.
