Cricket fans in India have reason to rejoice, as JioHotstar is all set to bring the highly anticipated India vs England Test series right to their screens. The streaming giant has secured the digital rights to broadcast the entire five-match series live, after striking a deal with Sony Sports Network, which holds the television broadcast rights.

This means while Sony will continue airing the matches on TV, all digital coverage—including mobile and online streaming—will now be available on the JioHotstar platform.

According to a detailed report by Cricbuzz, the two networks were in talks for about a month before sealing the agreement in the last 24 hours. Sony, officially operating under Culver Max Entertainment Private Limited, has agreed to sublicense the digital rights, keeping only the linear (television) rights for itself.

The five-match Test series kicks off on June 20 at Headingley, with matches continuing at Edgbaston, Lord’s, Old Trafford, and finally, The Kia Oval. The series will conclude on August 4, setting the stage for nearly two months of classic red-ball cricket between two of the game’s fiercest rivals.

But that’s not all.

The deal reportedly extends beyond just this summer. As per Cricbuzz, JioHotstar will also stream India’s white-ball tour of England in 2026, which includes three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and five T20 Internationals (T20Is). That’s eight more high-octane games already locked in for the streaming platform.

While neither Sony nor JioHotstar has released an official statement yet, an announcement is expected soon.

It’s important to note that Sony Sports Network had previously signed an eight-year broadcasting agreement with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), giving them exclusive rights to televise all cricket played in England. With this sub-licensing move, ECB is believed to have played an instrumental role in facilitating the collaboration, ensuring that Indian fans continue to enjoy seamless digital access to English cricket.

This new chapter also brings back memories of the last thrilling Test series between India and England in 2021-22.

The series started with a rain-hit draw in Nottingham, but India took control at Lord’s, thanks to KL Rahul’s classy 129 and Mohammed Siraj’s fiery eight-wicket haul. England roared back in Leeds with a crushing innings win led by Joe Root’s century and Ollie Robinson’s five-for. India regained momentum with a convincing win at The Oval, but the decider—delayed by COVID—was eventually held at Birmingham the following year.

Despite hundreds from Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja, England pulled off a record chase with Bairstow and Root guiding them to a stunning win, leveling the series 2-2 in their new “Bazball” style of aggressive Test cricket.

As cricket continues to evolve, so does the way we watch it. With JioHotstar now in charge of streaming, fans can expect a rich, interactive, and high-quality viewing experience. Whether you’re at home or on the go, India’s summer in England will be just a tap away.

This move marks another chapter in the ongoing digital revolution of sports broadcasting in India. With streaming platforms increasingly competing for premium sports rights, the fans are the ultimate winners—gaining more access, more flexibility, and better coverage.

So, mark your calendars. From June 20, it’s time to grab your phone, open JioHotstar, and settle in for some classic cricketing action between India and England.
